Former Inn, now farmhouse. Early C18. Red brick; clay tile roof
with crow-stepped gables; brick integral end stack and ridge stacks.
Roughly T-shape, 4-cell lobby-entry plan with front projecting wing
to west side. One storey and attic with stepped eaves bands; roughly
1:1:2 bays, casements, those to the 2 right hand bays have segmental
heads and flank a boarded door with segmental head, gabled dormers over,
blind bay to left, and gabled wing to left of centre with board door,
attic window to left and off-centre end stack to right. Interior:
Central timber framed partition dividing the house into service rooms
to the north and living rooms to the south. Service rooms: Dairy to
north, entered from the kitchen which is housed in the projecting wing
and which gives access to 2 staircases immediately south of the dairy
leading respectively to the upper floor and the cellar, and also to
the hall. Living rooms: Hall to north with doors at each end of
north wall leading respectively to the kitchen and to a pantry or small
parlour, inglenook fireplace to south with doors to each side communica-
ting respectively with a staircase leading to upper floor, and the parlour
via the entrance lobby; panelled partition to room above the hall;
chamfered and stopped beams; interrupted tie-beam roof truss.
