House. Early C19 incorporating the remains of a C16/C17 house to the rear.
Red brick; hipped plain tile roof; brick integral end stacks. Aligned north-
south facing west. 3 storeys, reduced proportions to second floor; 4 windows,
glazing bar sashes with shaped and keyed lintels and hood moulds with block
stops; sill band to first floor windows. Columns with palmette capitals
flank a central 6-panel door with broken pediment containing a fanlight with
radiating glazing bars. Interior. Open well staircase with stick balusters,
open string with carved tread ends, and ramped handrail. C19 fireplace with
polished marble surround, C19 attic fireplaces with cast-iron grates.
Several C17 boarded doors, chamfered and stopped ceiling beams, open fireplace
with timber bresummer. Essington Hall stands within a former moat.
