House. Circa 1840. Yellow brick with some rendered details; hipped slate roof;
2 brick ridge chimneys with moulded caps; 2 storeys; 3 first-floor windows,
symmetrical with end pilasters. Steps up to panelled door with plain over-
light in rendered architrave, flanked by pilasters and 2 plain Tuscan columns
supporting a large hood with plain entablature. Ground-floor windows have
large-paned sashes in rendered architraves. Sashes with glazing bars under
flat gauged brick arches on first floor. Pediment over slightly projecting
centre bay. Overhanging eaves. C20 lean-to on left side. Massive Late C19
extension to rear with mansard roof and dormer. Known originally as
The Plantation, this house lies in gardens planned by Henry Trevor C1856-70.
