Terrace of 4 houses. Mid C19. Yellow brick facade, rendered on ground floor;
slate roof; 4 brick ridge chimneys. 2 storeys and basement, 8 first-floor
windows, symmetrical. 3 steps up to 6-panelled doors and fanlights with
intersecting glazing bars in round-headed recesses alternating mostly with
large-paned sash windows. Moulded string course. Ground and first-floor
windows of No. 40 and those on first-floor of No. 42 have 16-pane sashes
under flat gauged brick arches. Paired modillion cornice. Gable parapet
to right. 2-storey painted brick extension set back to right of No.40.
