Former Methodist Sunday School, now shop. 1887 in pediment. Architect
Edward Boardman. Painted brick; slate roof. 2 storeys; 6 first-floor
windows; bays defined by rusticated pilasters. Panelled doors to right
and left have plain fanlights in moulded architraves with keyblocks under
a dentilled hood and with decorated spandrels. Round-headed sash windows
with C20 plate glass and keyblocks under dentilled hoods on the ground floor.
Dentilled modillion cornice, above plain frieze. Central pediment has round
cast-iron ventilator with date in a moulded brick surround. Plain parapet.
Side elevation to King's Lane has one round-headed and 6 flat-headed windows
in lugged architraves. End bays project slightly. Interior: curved stair
from each door leads to gallery on 4 sides with cast iron balustrade sup-
ported on cast iron columns at the ends and 3 cast iron brackets either
side. Coved ceiling with large arch-braced roof-light.
