The Rectory
GV II
House, now Rectory. Mid to late C19. Limestone and lias ashlar with Collyweston
slate roof. L-shape plan. 2 storeys. Main front of 3-window range of 2- and
3-light stone mullion windows with canted stone bay to left. Central gabled
porch has C19 glazed doors. Bay to left breaks forward as gabled cross wing and
first floor window to right is set in half dormer. C19 cast iron gutters and
hopper heads. Ashlar gable parapets and stone stacks at ends. Interior not
inspected but noted as having some C19 panelled doors with brass furniture. Used
as Rectory since 1919. Some details are similar to those in the Old School House
(q.v.) by Sir G.S. Scott. Included for group value.
