Barn. W tie-beam of threshing bay inscribed 'THIS BARN BUILT THE YEAR
1722'. Timber frame on brick sill, dark weatherboarded with half-hipped
steep old red tiled roof. A tall 4-bays structure facing N with
projecting gabled porch to 2nd bay from W, and N lean-to under catslide
extension of roof extending to E of porch. Interior has partitioned E
bay with heavily framed inserted floor for a granary. Thin brick infill
to framed partition. Queen-posts in clasped-purlin roof. Curved braces
from posts to cambered tie-beams. Unjowled mid-bay posts and mid-height
rail tenoned in-line. Raised floor of thick planks in threshing bay.
Possibly a C17 4-bays barn, re-erected here in 1722 adapted for a
combined barn and granary.
