Stables and ancillary offices. Probably early/mid C18 for Powys family. Modified
mid/late C19. Limestone ashlar with stone slate roofs. U-shaped plan. 2 storeys.
Elevation to courtyard of 5-window range. Centre 3 bays are flanked by wings
breaking forward with 2-window range to end of each wing. Central carriage arch
with keyblock. Casement windows with glazing bars, reducing at first floor, have
gauged stone heads. Centre range has triangular pediment. Moulded cornice, plain
parapet and hipped roof. Central, octagonal, wooden cupola with arched openings,
cornice dome and weathervane. Elevations to left and right of similar 5-window
ranges. Right elevation has stone mullion and transom windows with segmental
heads, probably remodelled C19. Rear elevation of 7 bays. Triple arcade to
centre; with flanking arches forming entrance to coach-house, each with panelled
doors. Pediment over. This elevation probably had a C19 projecting glazed
canopy. C19 walls attached to left and right of courtyard elevation. Walls to
right are linked by arches to south-east wing of Lilford Hall (q.v.). Stables
form a pair with Stables and attached walls approximately 20 metres north of
Lilford Hall (q.v.).
