22/324 Old Barns Farmhouse
II
House. c.1800 with mid-C19 porch and rear wing. Squared stone; wing has
tooled-and-margined quoins and dressings. Welsh slate roof with stacks
rebuilt in yellow brick.
South elevation 2 storeys, 3 bays. Centre blind doorway with blind window
above; end bays have 12-pane sash windows except for tripartite stone-mullioned
window on ground floor left. Gables have pitched coping; end stacks rebuilt
on old bases.
Left return shows 12-pane ground-floor sash on left and central 1st-floor
doorway now blocked, with 12-pane sash inserted. Left rear wing with boarded
door, 6-pane casement window and 1st floor 4-pane sash; chamfered eaves
cornice; coped left end gable.
Right return shows central projecting porch with flush-panelled door, in
chamfered surround, on left return; end wall shows inserted 8-pane casement
and band below coped parapet. 16-pane fixed light in chamfered surround on
right return. Left of porch 12-pane sash and above porch round-arched stair
window holding 12-pane sash with intersecting head.
Rear elevation shows 12-pane sashes, the lower with external bars; right
projecting wing with renewed casements, in chamfered openings, on inner
return.
