NY 86 SW HAYDON LANGLEY

east of B6295/A686 junction

Former store and office of Langley Lead Smelting Mill, early C19. Rubble, tooled
quoins and dressings, stone slate roof. Rectangular block. West section two-storied,
east section a barn-like store with opposed central cart entrances. Left section
has external stone stair flanked by altered 12-pane sashes, leading up to boarded
door with chamfered alternating jambs flanked by small windows. Right section has
elliptical-headed cart entrance, now blocked with window inserted, and 6 blocked
ventilation slits above. Rear elevation, left section has large C20 opening
replacing cart entrance, right section has boarded door with alternating jambs
flanked by 9-pane sashes.

Interior: east section has principal rafter roof trusses with collars, showing
incised carpenter's marks.

The only remaining building of a once-extensive complex.
