Row of 3 cottages of c.1740, west cottage heightened c.1880. Squared stone
with dressings, slate roof. 2 storeys, 7 irregular bays. Boarded doors in
bays 1,3,4 and 7, all except that in bay 3 with 3-pane overlights. 12-pane
Yorkshire sashes in chamfered surrounds to ground floor of bays 5 and 6, in
plain stone surrounds to ground floor of bay 2 and 1st floor of bays 5 and 6;
Yorkshire sash with glazing bars removed to 1st floor of bay 3. Stepped and
corniced stone stacks on ridge and at right end, the central stack rebuilt on
old base. Left return has central blocked door in chamfered surround with old
12-pane casement in plain stone surround above.
The cottages are said to have been built by Sir William Blackett for the
Italian stuccatori working on his reconstruction of Wallington Hall (q.v.).
