ALLENDALE
ALLENHEADS
Iceton House

II

House, former pay office for lead mines, late c18. Ashlar front, rubble side
and rear walls, tooled rusticated quoins, slate roof. 1 tall storey, 3 bays.
Plinth. Doorway between 1st and 2nd bays with rusticated alternating jambs
and false keystone. 12-pane sash windows in moulded boxes; wedge lintels
with false keystone, slightly projecting sills. Hipped roof has weathervane
on hip with pierced inscription Sir T.B. 1790. Left return has 12-pane sash

doubt whether the weathervane originates from Iceton House or from the adjacent
Allenheads Inn.
