Early C19 terrace of cottages following curve of hill and stepped up in
pairs. Red brick, (No. 2 painted white) with wide eaves and slate roofs.
2 storeys and gabled dormer each, 1 window; - sashes, most glazing bars
remain. Round headed doors with stucco tympana. Important position opposite
statutorily listed buildings and at this entrance to the town.
The raised pavement and wall forms part of a group with Nos 5 to 19 (odd)
the South Oxfordshire Technical College Old School and Main Buildings,
Nos 43 to 49 (odd) and the wall and gate piers to former Paradise House.
Ancastle Cottage, Nos 2 to 36 (even) and the pavement surface in front
of Nos 2 to 36 (even) opposite. Ancastle Cottage also forms a group with
the entrance walls, piers and gates and the lower lodge of Friar Park.
