House. Early C18, with later C18 extensions. Uncoursed limestone rubble; gabled
stone slate roof; C19 brick rear lateral stack, and C18 brick right end stack.
2-unit plan. 2 storeys and attic; 2-window range. Timber lintels over central
C20 door and C20 casements; C20 roof dormer. Lower mid C18 two-storey bay to
right, has flat stone arch over ground-floor window: 2-storey range to rear with
flat stone arches over openings. Outbuilding, former granary and stable, to
rear: of similar materials. Interior: left room has chamfered beam, and
chamfered bressumer and stone jambs to open fireplace. Right room has chamfered
joists and stop-chamfered beam, and chamfered bressumer over open fireplace.
3-bay roof. History: known as the Maltster and Shovel public house in the C19.
