9/4 Rectory Cottage

House. C17 in origin, with deeds said to date back to c.1612. Altered and
refronted c.1800, with C18-C19 rear extensions. Coursed rubble limestone, stone
slate roof, flanking ashlar chimneys. 2 storeys and attic, 3 bays. 3-pane sashes
with slightly chamfered wooden lintels, the right windows set quite close
together, the left further apart. 3 gabled roof dormers with C20 2-light wooden
casements. Central 6-panelled top-lit door with flat stone hood on shaped scroll
brackets. Later lean-to to right gable end, with C20 2-light casement. To rear
of left bay is a C18 catslide extension with angled corner to farmyard. Gabled
extension to rear of right bay. Partly blocked C17-C18 window to first floor
rear of centre bay. Interior: right bay has deeply chamfered spine beam and
fireplace lintel. C.1800 double purlin roof with some re-used older timbers.
