Farmhouse. Mid-C17, eaves raised and remodelled late C18/early C19 with
later additions and alterations. Timber framed now mainly roughcast
with graded slate roof; painted brick additions. 2 storeys; Dormer baffle-
entry plan of 3 framed bays. Framing: exposed to right gable end, square
panels, 3 from cill to tie beam with long straight tension braces;
decorative lozenge patterns above tie beam. Irregular fenestration of
2 late C19 casements directly below eaves to left and right of centre and
late C20 casement to far right; one late C20 casement and one late C19
casement to ground floor, former in position of original doorway; boarded
door to right under late C19 open gabled porch; red brick axial ridge
stack to centre and red brick stack to rear on right. Parallel gabled
C19 additions at right-angles to rear with end stacks. Interior: timber
frame intact throughout with square panels exposed to back wall, chamfered
ceiling beams and heavy joists in ground-floor rooms; large chimney breast
has infilled inglenook fireplace with richly moulded wooden lintel to
right ground-floor room. Several C17 plank doors and original floor boards
to upstairs rooms. Original roof trusses survive with collar and tie
beam exposed to right gable end.
