CLUN C.P.,
CHURCH ROAD, Newcastle (north-west side),
Bright Memorial approximately 2 metres to South of Nave of Church of St John
GV
II
Chest tomb. Early to mid- C19, by J Davies of Clun. Sandstone
ashlar. Cavetto-moulded plinth, sunken side panels with flanking
fluted pilasters, shaped quarter corner balusters, and moulded
cornice. To Ann Bright, daughter of Richard and Jane Bright of
Whitcott Hall (q.v.) who died 11 February, 1855. This is a good
example of a type peculiar to the area (Cf. Clun Churchyard)
which here exhibits a typically well-executed inscription with
flourishes and different scripts.
