House. Circa 1500 with mid to late C19 refacing, alterations and
additions. Timber framed, partly roughcast and partly refaced with
coursed limestone rubble, and extended in squared and coursed limestone
graded slate and probably C20 slate roofs. Aligned south-west/north-
east, aspect south-east. Former open hall of 3 framed bays with C19
addition to south forming L-plan. One storey and attic, and 2 storeys.
Rendered ridge stack off-centre to east, and external lateral stack
with gabled attic link and red brick top stage to west of C19 wing.
Framing: square panels. South front: eaves raised in C18 or C19.
2 first floor C20 casements, ground floor C20 casement to left and
2 boarded doors to right, that on far right to coal house. One
ground floor 3-light casement in left-hand return front and 2-light
attic casement in gable end to south. West front: C19 planted timbers
in gable end to left. 2-light attic casement to left, two 2-light
ground floor casements beneath, and C20 ground floor casement to right
of stack. Interior: 2 full cruck trusses flanking centre bay, with
tie beams and collars, that to west with Alcock apex type B; smoke-
blackened roof timbers; interior partition wall between central and
eastern bay with square panels; possibly C18 staircase with turned
balusters, moulded handrail, and square newel post. Alcock, p.96.
