Farmhouse, now house. Late C17, possibly incorporating parts of an earlier
building, extended late C18 with later additions and alterations. Uncoursed
limestone rubble with occasional red brick dressings and painted brick,
probably replacing timber frame, to gable end of north range; plain tile
roof. T-plan: earliest part is north range, apparently in 3 bays; ranges
to east and west are later, probably C18 additions (see straight joints on
long south side). C19 rubblestone lean-to on east and west sides of north
range. 2 storeys with cellar beneath north range. North side of west
range has C19 casement to left and C20 casement to right on first floor;
C20 casement in C19 segmental-headed opening to right on ground floor.
North range has C20 casements on each floor to gable and prominent stepped
external lateral stack with truncated and infilled bread oven in angle with
west wing. Entrance to left through C17 plank door under concrete lean-to
(continuation of rubblestone lean-to). Integral end stacks with red brick
shafts to east and west ranges and red brick ridge stack to north range.
Interior: several deep-chamfered ceiling beams to ground-floor rooms.
Stone-flag floor to south room of north range, which has inglenook fireplace
with C19 moulded wooden mantel-shelf. Inglenook fireplace also to
external lateral stack. Straight-flight oak staircase with turned balusters
(several replaced) turns on half-landing to each range. Several C17 and
C18 plank doors throughout. Collar and tie beam roof trusses partly exposed
to north range; doorway with shaped lintel cut through tie beam of first
truss from south.
