GV II

Rectory, now house. Mid-C18, probably altered in the late C18. Red
brick with slate roof, 2-span to right. L-plan, with later infill in
angle. Two storeys and attic.Stepped plinth to left, dentil brick eaves
cornice, and parapeted gables with stone copings. Integral brick end
stacks and 2 brick stacks behind ridge off-centre to left. 2:1:1 bays;
glazing bar sashes with slightly segmental heads and painted stone cills,
those on the first floor to left are boxed. Gabled break in second bay
from right with small 2-light attic casement, first-floor Venetian window
with boxed sash, painted stone cill and gauged-brick head, and half-glazed
door (flush lower panels) with Greek Doric stone doorcase consisting of full
columns supporting entablature with mutules. Interior only partly
inspected: late C18 oak staircase of one swept flight with open string,
stick balusters (one per tread), and swept handrail, wreathed to tall
columnular foot newel; balustrade returns to 2 sides of landing. Right-
hand ground-floor front room with fluted plaster frieze. Large open fire-
place in kitchen to rear with chamfered wooden lintel.
