All Angels

GV II

Two chest tombs. Both C19. (a) Swaffield monument about 6 metres south-south-west of porch: Chest tomb. Probably C19.
Ham stone. Step base, tall chamfered plinth; plain recessed panel each flank, no frieze; chamfered coving to hipped
top. Commemorates Eleanor Swaffield, died 1775, and John, died 1830. (b) Budge monument about 7 metres south-west of
porch; Chest tomb. Later C19. Ham stone. Step base, moulded plinth; Gothic-style expanded quatrefoil panels, one each
end and 2 each flank, no frieze; moulded coving to ledgered hipped top. Commemorates Edward Budge, died 1880, and
others. A good example of the later type of chest tomb.
