Farmhouse, now house. Early C17, partly rebuilt early to mid-C18 with
later additions and alterations. Timber framed with painted brick infill
to C17 part; painted brick to C18 part; machine tile roofs. T-plan
with long hall range to rear, totally rebuilt in C18 brick. 2 storeys
with gable-lit attic to cross-wing. Framing: cross-wing apparently
in 2 framed bays has 4 rectangular panels from cill to wall-plate with
short straight tension braces; jettied first-floor and attic to left
gable end with bressumers supported on carved brackets, that to attic
with geometrical motif; herringbone decoration above tie beam and projecting
single-purlin ends. Three-light C19 casements to left and right of
entrance immediately to left of centre, those to first floor directly
below eaves; C20 nail-studded door beneath contemporary gabled timber
porch. Pointed finials to gable ends. Hall range has floor band to
2 left bays with 3 plain pilasters. Three late C19 casements to each
floor, all except upper centre with segmental heads. Prominent red
brick ridge stack to right with 5 attached and rebated shafts and C19
toothed capping; small subsidiary red brick stack in roof slope to far
left. Interior: inspection not possible at time of resurvey (January
1986) but noted as having massive moulded cross beam with heavy joists
and partly infilled inglenook fireplace to hall range.
