Anglican Parish church. 1854-6, by S.S. Teulon. Flint with Bath
stone dressings, tiled roof. Nave and chancel in 1 vessel. South-
west porch with steeple. North chancel vestry. 6 bays. Entrance
under tower; ogee hood with vine leaf crockets, double nook shafts
and naturalistic foliage capitals. Tower buttresses gabled.
Windows 2-light with varied Decorated tracery and relieving arches
of alternating tile and glazed brick. Chancel buttresses gabled.
5-light east window, 4-light west window. Ashlar panel below east
end. Tower of 3 stages, bellstage with pierced transennae. Tall
machicolated parapet with carved panels. Octagonal stair tower in
re-entrant against nave, rises to spirelet engorged with crown.
Interior: 6 bay open timber roof, trusses bracketed to wall corbels
in nave, hammer beam to 2 trusses of chancel which also have
scalloped windbraces. Chancel raised 2 steps. Inscription over
windows, these with grisaille glass. Fittings: Font, stone,
octagonal, with small bowl. Furniture: Pulpit, reading desk, choir
stalls and pews, and communion rail all oak. Altar removed. The
church is redundant.
