The Old Rectory
GV II
House, formerly the rectory. 1849. Rock faced rusticated sandstone. Plain-tiled roof with end parapets on shaped kneelers. Ridge and end stacks. Plan of main range with cross-wing. Tudor Gothic style. 2 storeys. 3 first floor 3- and 2-light cross frame casements with splayed mullions in flat arches. Ground floor has similar fenestration. Gabled porch of similar materials and date. Pointed outer arch. Part-glazed door. The house is sited within the precinct walls of the Priory of Augustinian Canons founded by William de Clinton, Earl of Huntingdon, and consecrated in 1342.
