Farmhouse. Rear wing possibly late C17: front range 1711. Mid/late C19, partial
refronting, alterations and additions. Front range of Flemish bond red brick
with rusticated limestone quoins on left. Left wing to rear of regular coursed
ironstone. Rear wall of wing to yard and right wing of red brick. C20 tile roof;
brick end stacks. L-plan, extended to U-plan with wings to rear. 2 storeys;
4-window range. Central open-fronted porch has clasping buttresses rising above
roof and coped gable parapet between. Date inscribed in gable. Brick arch.
sides have round-arched windows. Flush 6-panelled door has overlight with
decorative glazing. To left C19/C20 French window inserted into 2 blocked
windows with gauged brick flat arches and keystones. 3-light casement to right
inserted in reduced opening below gauged brick flat arch. First floor windows
are positioned very high above. 2-light C19 casements with glazing bars. Painted
wood lintels throughout. Right return side has single-light windows. Lower
2-window stone range has plinth. Ground floor has 3-light casements with many
glazing bars. Stone lintels with keyblocks and hood moulds above. First floor
has 2-light cavetto-moulded mullioned windows. One-storey range to right has
similar 3-light window. To yard, wing has brick dentil cornice. Irregular
fenestration of C19 and C20 casements. Main range has mid C20 window inserted in
blocked doorway with overlight and brick flat arch with keystone. First floor
has two 2-light casements. Right wing is a 2-window range to the yard. Central
plank door. 2 and 3-light casements with many glazing bars. All openings have
brick segmental arches. Windows inserted above. Gable end has brick and stone
external staircase to segmental arched doorway. Brick lean-to to right of main
range to rear has ashlar plinth with blind or blocked window with flat arch.
This may be the remains of a C18 range: the corner of the main range has
alternating quoins running in the wrong direction. Interior: rear wing has
ceiling beams and straight flight stairs. Front range has early C18 six-panelled
door. C19 fireplaces.
