House. Late C17, early-mid C18 and early C20 additions by Sir
Herbert Baker. Brick, with unbonded stone quoins and moulded
string. Tiled roof. Two storeys, attic and cellar. Five bays.
Main north elevation has half-glazed door and fanlight, and 18-pane
sashes with moulded frames and sills, all have gauged brick lintels
with chamfered stone keys. Moulded brick eaves. Three hipped
dormers with 20-paned sashes. Block added to south-west corner in
C20, three x one bays, 2 storeys and attic with raised brick quoins
and hipped roof containing 2 dormers, all in matching style. Rear
block is extended to east by along range by Sir H. Baker,
incorporating earlier block, 2 storeys colourwashed with first
floor tile hung, also with tiled roof. Leaded casement windows.
Range ends in a cross wing. Brick stacks.
Interior: Front block contains dining room in 3 bays with dado
panelling, leading to library with a marble fireplace and large
fluted keystone.
