House, c1760, ashlar fronted with stone-tiled mansard valley roof,
coped gables and end wall stacks. Basement and 3 storeys. Three-
window range. Formal south front with high plinth, band, first
floor sill course, modillion cornice and parapet. Upper 9-pane
windows in architraves. First floor 12-pane sashes in architraves
with cornices. Ground floor 8-12-8-pane Venetian windows with
architraves flanking slightly recessed Ionic pedimented doorcase
with columns on pedestals and 4 steps up to fielded 6-pane door in
elliptical arched surround with intersecting glazing bar fanlight.
Two small basement windows. One-window range to west end return,
6-pane attic window and 8-pane windows below. East end wall has
first floor 12-pane sash in raised bead-moulded surround with
dripstone and 9-pane attic window in similar surround. Two-window
range to rear and rear wing with ashlar east front, 9-pane attic
window, 12-pane first floor and two 18-pane ground floor windows.
At west end is rubble stone 2-storey earlier range with eaves band,
4-light upper mullion window, outer lights blank, ground floor 2-
light mullion window, originally 3-light, under relieving arch and
broad elliptical carriage arch to left in raised rusticated
surround. Rear has 2-light window to each floor and door in moulded
doorcase.
Interior: ground floor east room has modillion cornice, panelled
dado and original fireplace. Closed string stair to rear with
turned balusters and column newels.
