This was the Workhouse in the C18 and until 1836, but the top storey has
been added in the C19. Originally the building had only 2 storeys of red
brick and grey headers, with 9 windows and stringcourses above the ground
floor. To this has been added a third storey, hung with tiles, which has
a large gable in the centre with scalloped bargeboards and 3 small gables
on each side of this above the 3 outer windows on each side. C19 casement
windows throughout the building, those on the ground floor with cambered
head linings. Large modern window in the centre of the top floor beneath
the gable. Square-headed doorway at each end, dating from the C19
alterations, with dripstone over.
