adjoining to south
- II
House, 1679, altered, with barn probably late C18th. Sandstone rubble with
roof of tile on house, slate on barn. 2 storeys. East wall has, at the
left, an enlarged window with rebated and chamfered surround and hood.
Further right is a blocked one-light rebated and chamfered window under a
hood which extends over the window to its right, which is of 4 lights with
flat-faced mullions. On the 1st floor are 3 windows with plain reveals.
End chimneys. The present entrance is through the north wall of an outshut
added at the rear of the house. The doorway appears to be re-set and has a
moulded surround with a lintel decorated with leaf and tendril decoration
and inscribed: 'RSE 1679'. The barn, to the left of the east facade of the
house, has a wide entrance with segmental arch and keystone. It is now
partly blocked with brickwork. To the right is a door with plain reveals.
To the left is a pitching hole with brick reveals. Interior of house not
accessible at time of survey. Said to have exposed ceiling beams.
