Two houses, both late C17th but with straight joint between. Sandstone
rubble,with stone slate roof 2 storeys. Windows have mullions and are
rebated and chamfered except for those on the lst floor of, Oak Cottage,
which are chamfered. Oak Cottage, at the right, has ground-floor windows
of 3 and 2 lights and ones of 3 and one lights above. The door, at the
left, has a chamfered surround with battlemented lintel inscribed: 'WCS
1684'. Adjoining to the right and with a slightly lower roof is a former
barn, now part of the house. It has a wide entrance with segmental arch,
and a blocked door at the right with plain reveals. Garden Cottage, at the
left, has a 3-light re-tooled window on the ground floor. On the 1st floor
are 2 windows of 3 lights. At the right is a door with chamfered surround
and battlemented lintel inscribed: 'MCS 1910'. To its right is a blocked
one-light window. Chimney on gable of each house, the left-hand one with
projecting stack. Inside, Oak Cottage has main ceiling joists replaced in
pine, and recesses for a spice cupboard and bread oven in its gable wall.
Interior of Garden Cottage said to contain no early features.
