House, C17. Sandstone rubble with stone slate roof. 3-cell plan
with 2-storey gabled porch. Windows mullioned, with inner hollow
chamfer, outer chamfer, and hood. To the left of the porch is one of
4 lights on each floor. To the right of the porch is one of 6 lights
with king mullion, with a 4-light 1st floor window. Further right is
a one-light chamfered window on each floor, with a 4-light window on
each floor at the far right. The porch oversails at the front on a
moulded string. On the 1st floor is a stepped 3-light window, with a
blocked chamfered attic window above. Inner and outer doorways have
stopped mouldings and Tudor arches. The inner door is of planks
with scribed mouldings and is studded, with large iron hinges. The
gables have copings with footstones. Main stack to the left of the
right-hand bay, with second chimney in line with porch. At the rear
is a stair outshut with 2 chamfered one-light windows and a parallel
range having 2 C17th hood moulds now partly destroyed and a 4-light and
a 2-light mullioned window. Interior. The main fireplace, in the
central room, is wide with a chamfered segmental arch. Backing onto
it, in the right-hand room is a chamfered shouldered fireplace with
triangular head, now filled in. The main ceiling joists are chamfered
with stepped stops. The common joists have chamfers, stops, and scribed
mouldings. 1st floor not examined.
