- School in Old Fold Garden

Tower of former Holly Mount school, erected 1839 by Messrs Whitehead as
factory school. Dressed sandstone. Gothic style, rectangular plan, 3
diminishing stages, with diagonal buttresses, set-offs at each stage,
battlements and crocketed pinnacles, clock face at 3rd stage. Attached at
ground level is large decorated datestone (probably formerly a door head)
forming a semi-circular arch with raised lettering "1839" and "HOLLY MOUNT
SCHOOL" in the head; above this a plaque stating that the Old Fold Garden was
the site of the Holly Mount School. Item forms conspicuous landmark in its
locality.
