3/294 Haystacks Bridge

Public road bridge, 1794 for Leeds and Liverpool Canal. Robert Whitworth, engineer. Ashlar. Single segmental arch with rusticated voussoirs, band and
solid parapet. Curved abutments end in piers. The arch is now blocked and
the bridge has been dry since 1817 when a new flight of locks was built at Greenberfield (see Leeds and Liverpool Canal, items 3/290 and 293).
