Aqueduct or under-bridge carrying Lancaster Canal over New Mill Brook, 1790s,
Engineer John Rennie. Rock-faced sandstone. Three fully elliptical stone
pipes c.3 metres high and 4 metres wide, all with rusticated rock-faced
voussoirs, a flat coping run down on curved outer abutments. Unusual and
ingenious engineering solution to problem of shallow clearance of canal over
brook.
