Block of 4 small back-to-back cottages, probably late C18, altered to
make 2 through-cottages. Watershot coursed sandstone, slate roof with a
ridge chimney and a gable chimney. Double-depth plan, 2 bays. Two
storeys, gable to road and set back behind modern shop attached to right
gable; front has 2 doorways with plain surrounds, 2 stepped triple-light
windows on each floor. Left end of both front and rear walls has tusking
for intended continuation; left return wall has 2 small windows, and
joint mark left by recently-demolished 2-privy lean-to. Rear has 2
doorways without surrounds, 3 flush mullion windows with unequal lights
at ground floor, and at 1st floor a 4-light window (2 middle lights blocked)
and a 3-light window. Interior: altered to make connecting doorway through
axial partition; staircase in front room and evidence of former staircase
in back room.
