NORMANTON LE HEATH
THE HOLLOW
Manor Farmhouse

II
Farmhouse in two distinct sections, vernacular and polite. To the east, a two storey block, early C18, perhaps with earlier, timber framed core. Flemish bond brickwork on ashlar plinth, and projecting brick string course above ground floor. Two-unit plan, fireplace backing onto entry, six-panel door set back in moulded frame with panelled rebates. Casement windows, those to ground floor having segmental brick arched heads. Rendered gable end and steep pitched roof. To the west a late C18 three storey block, Flemish bond brickwork on ashlar plinth. Four window range, twelve-light sashes with gauged brick heads. Apparently two different builds - eastern end has stone eaves cornice and seems the earlier. Narrow depth range, to western elevation, sash windows grouped in threes on each floor. Hipped roof with modern covering.
