Description

SK 52 SE HOTON WYMESWOLD ROAD
1/44 Hoton House

GV II

House, late C18, possibly with earlier core. Flemish bond brickwork. 3
storeys, 3 bays, symmetrical facade. Central doorway with renewed case, and
a 6-panel door and intricate traceried overlight. 9-light sash windows (6-
light to upper storey) with gauged brick heads and stone sills. Eaves cornice
with minimal modillions. Continuous outshut behind. Rear wing to left has
stone plinth, stone coped gable, and brick sill courses. It appears to be
both earlier than the main facade and itself of 2 builds, suggesting refronting
and possible reorientating of the house.
