Dysart Mausoleum and railing

Mausoleum. c.1880. Ashlar with stone slab roofs. Moulded
plinth and eaves, gable bands and verges. Gothic style. Single
storey, 3 bays. West front has central gabled porch with
flanking buttresses with heavily moulded pointed doorway with
rounded jambs, ogee hood mould and finial. Plank door with
elaborate bronze strap hinges and cross. Above the door, a
traceried roundel containing a shield and a cross. Beyond, on
each side, a large gabled corner buttress with traceried panels.
East side has a central gable with flanking buttresses, with a
plain leaded graduated triple lancet with heavily moulded reveal
and hood mould. Above, a small double lancet ventilator with
hood mould. Beyond, on each side, a large gabled corner
buttress. North and south gables have each 2 corner buttresses
with setoffs. Above, an unglazed 3 light mullioned ventilator.
Outside, a low coped wall carrying a spiked railing with baluster
shaped posts and a gateway to east. This building was erected by
the Trustees of the Eighth Earl of Dysart, who died in 1878.
