Mond Mausoleum, at St Pancras and Islington Cemetery

Mausoleum to the Mond family. Early C20 by Darcy Braddell, based on the Temple of
Memesis, Rhamnus. Grey granite and Portland stone. Fluted Ionic columns set distyle in antis
under pediment; behind them bronze doors under their own pediment with acanthus acroteria
decoration, with a granite seat either side. Side walls each with three square 9-light windows.
The whole composition set up ten steps.
Entombed here is Ludwig Mond (1839-1909), industrial chemist, who bequeathed his
collection of Italian Old Masters to the National Gallery.
