1751, extended 1783 (information from Essex VCH). Originally the workhouse,
now a range of timber-framed cottages, all under a single roof. Two storeys,
Nos 25 and 27 two bays wide (No 27 originally 2 dwellings) the remainder one
window wide. No 23 red brick, the remainder rendered. No 25 has old casement
windows with top-opening panes, Nos 23 and 27 have modern metal casements,
Nos 31 and 33 wooden sash and wooden casement windows. Shouldered brick stack
on west gable. All doors altered, modern side entrance to No 25, rear stacks.
Crown fire plaque on No 25. Modern metal framed windows.
