1901 by London County Council Architects' Department Fire Brigade
Section. Romantic building in modified Art and Craft style with
Japanese echoes. 3 storeys, attic and basement, 6 windows, somewhat
irregular. High pitched, swept tiled roof with deep eaves soffit and
6 hipped gabled dormers with curling wrought iron horns at corners
to give Oriental effect. Tall chimneys of stock brick. 2 upper
floors pebbledashed with stone string at 2nd floor. Red brick ground
floor with overhanging pent roof running round left return. Canted
bays, full height at right, on upper floors in centre and flanking the
2 appliance entrances on ground floor. Stone dressings to all windows,
caseirents of varying lights, some with transoms, some with bars. On
right return battered octagoual Tower set into wall and rising above
roof to louvred wood belfry. High pyramidal roof with very deep eaves
soffit carrying wrought iron horns at angles. Inscription in gilt
letters attached to lst floor wall "LCC Fire Brigade Station, AD 1901"
