Carnegie Public Library, opened March 1908. A H Campbell. Forms extension to East
Ham Town Hall (to left). Red brick with yellow terracotta dressings. Jacobean
motifs. Two-storeyed. Rising to balustraded parapet and green slated garret storey.
Front has central open pedimented rusticated Ionic columned porch with Ionic columns
and gabled oriel above with 2 bays of mullioned and transomed windows at each side.
Cupolaed. Battered tower at south end with octagonal buttresses and cupola and
octagonal lantern. Egg and dart cornice. Cill bandcourses. Thin chamfered
buttresses.
