1878 by J E K Cutts, somewhat in the style of Butterfield, simple and massive
with structural polychromy. Stock brick, dressings of red brick and stone, high
pitched slated roofs. Tall nave with aisles, aisled chancel almost as tall as
nave, lower transepts, bell cote at crossing. North and south porches. C13 style,
with lancets either single or grouped and wheel windows at ends. Banding and
patterned brickwork and emphasised patterns around windows and doors. Nave retains
polychrome interior but aisles now whitened. Four bay arcade, alternate compound
and octagonal piers. Timber roof. Good iron screens, probably later. Font and
pulpit and east windows by Kempe.
