SP20NW Manor House, garden
3/320 walls including two
gates and gateways.
GV II
Kitchen garden walls and gates. C16, remodelled C18 and restored c.1912
for Sir Roger Sothern Holland. Coursed rubble walls with C18 buttresses,
about 3m high with plain coping. Enclose gardern to south of Manor House.
Said to incorporate a tablet with Cardinal's hat (the Manor belonged to
Christ Church) and date 1561.
Gateway immediately south of dovecote (q.v.) is C18 wrought-iron with
over-throw and side panels. The gateway axial with south entrance of
Manor House (q.v.) has flat arch, rubble piers and sphinx capping. Wall
extends around garden to east and south and links with the dovecote (q.v.)
in the west side (q.v. also doorway and northern section of west wall).
