Lock, tail bridge and adjoining aqueduct over the River
Tame. Betweeen 1794 and 1799. Benjamin Outram engineer.
Hammer-dressed stone. Lock has single upper and double lower
gates, is grooved for stop planks and has a boatman's ladder
inserted in one wall dating from the 1984 restoration. The
walls have several stonemason's marks. The bridge at the
lower end has an elliptical arch and the parapet wall has a
stone band, round-topped copings, is terminated in a square
pier at one end and sweeps down to towpath level at the
other. The aqueduct (higher end of lock) has a skew-
segmental arch span, battered side walls with stone band and
coping and battered square piers flanking the arch as well
