Barn. C13 and C18. Rubble stone and flint, with C20 pantile roof.
Half-hipped, with central gabled 2 storey porch, with quoins and chamfered
entrance arch and depressed inner arch, window on first floor with later
brick lintel. Left return with blocked lancet windows in 2 tiers, 2 over
3, with arched doorway to left. Interior: C18 timber aisled construction
of 5 bays, with aisles, and with queen post roof. The room above entrance
porch with flight of stone stairs within wall thickness; originally a
living room with fireplace. The barn may have been the great Guesthouse
of the Premonstratensian Abbey of St. Radegund's. (See I.W. Green, Kent
Life June 1970).
