Farmhouse. Late C16 (VCH), with C18 wing to rear. Timber framed: cross wing has
close studding and square framing with lath and plaster, whitewashed brick and
roughcast infill; main range roughcast; rear wing brick with brick dentil
cornice. C20 tile roof; brick stacks. L-plan with cross wing to left and wing to
rear. One storey and attic main range, 2-storey wings; 3-window range. Entrance
in main range has C19 four-panelled door and C20 open porch. C19 and C20
casements with glazing bars. Two gabled half-dormers. Cross wing has exposed
square framing and jowled posts. Ground floor window only. Left return side has
close studding on ground floor, and large framing with tension braces forming
zig-zag pattern. Brick external stack. Rear similar, but with curved braces and
jowled posts, and whitewashed brick infill. Right return side has 2-window range
brick wing. Casements with glazing bars under brick segmental arches. Large
external stack with fire windows. Single dormer. Interior: Exposed framing.
Broad-chamfered ceiling beams; room with cross beams. Disused open fireplace.
Flagstone floors. C16 depressed-ogee doorway. Old 4-panelled doors with
H-hinges. Old plank doors. Forms group with granary and shelter shed (q.v.)
(V.C.H.: Warwickshire, Vol.III, p.33).
