House. Dated 1864 on lintel resited in C20 porch. For Sir Matthew White Ridley.
Coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings, plinth and quoins. Welsh slate
roof with yellow pots on ashlar chimney stacks. 2 storeys, 3 x 3 bays and 2-
storey, 2-bay rear wing; later porch on left return. Central porch has blocked
Tuscan doorcase with inserted sash; alternate-block jambs to margined sashes
above and in outer bays. Floor bands; eaves gutter cornice and blocking course.
Hipped roof has tall conjoined square chimneys.
Historical note; Kelly's directory for 1858 describes the house and farm buildings
of the model farm as the most complete and extensive in Northumberland.
