The mansion itself (by David Brandon, 1870), is in Kent. The Gateway is
presumably of the same date and by the same architect. Cast iron double
gates to the carriage drive with cresting over set in rectangular stone
piers with projecting cornices surmounted by figures of a gryphon and a
lion. Pedestrian gates on each side also with cresting and set in smaller
similar piers surmounted by vases.
