Former rectory, later house. 1864-5. Ewan Christian, architect. Domestic Gothic style.
MATERIALS: Bargate stone rubble with red brick bands and dressings, some stone keystones, tiled roof with ridge tiles, brick chimneystacks and ornamental rainwater heads.
PLAN: Asymmetrical rectangular building with entrance at north-east angle.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with basement and attic. Irregular fenestration, mainly sash windows with keystones and brick lintels, some with arched heads.
Entrance or north-east front: twin gables, with projecting single storey porch at an angle. Through arched opening with brick surround is the entrance, reached via 3 York stone steps, behind which is a ventilation opening to the cellar. Plank door with ornamental hinges and handle. Irregular fenestration. Gables are enriched with eaves decoration comprising angle-set headers. To right of entrance is a single storey extension with steps leading up to the window. South-east side elevation: 3 bays, the central one projecting with a hipped gabled roof. Mullioned windows to basement. 6-pane windows to ground floor and centre of first floor, 4-pane to sides of first floor, arched attic window in gable. South-west or garden front: 3 bays, right-hand one projecting with a 5-light bay window at ground floor; 4-pane sash to first floor above, 2-pane arched sash in gable. To left, later tile-roofed conservatory, with 2 4-pane windows to first floor, small dormer above. North-west or rear elevation with later brick extension to left of back door.
